Boston Bound KC Dinner Set For April 12th At Fox & Hound In OP

Boston MarathonIt has become a tradition for the Kansas City area runners who are registered to run the venerable Boston Marathon to meet in Kansas City the weekend before they travel to Beantown and the Back Bay. This gathering has become known as Boston Bound KC. Both first-time Boston runners as well as those who have run Boston more than a dozen times come together to share stories, make new friends and reacquaint with old pals. Some of my favorite running relationships were born here in 2013. Hard to believe there was a time when so many of us were strangers. Now – I run into BBKC runners at every race (and on the street) no matter the place.

This year’s Boston Bound KC gathering will be Sunday, April 12th, at 6:00 PM at the Fox & Hound in Overland park near 105th & Metcalf in the Indian Creek Shopping Center (behind Krispy Kreme Donuts)…and we ALL know where Krispy Kreme Donuts is, right? We have reserved an area of the restaurant for any and all who can attend – this means even those of us who might not be running Boston this year but have some wisdom and stories to share with those lucky enough to be Boston Bound in 2015. We want to keep this an informal event so everyone will be responsible for their own ticket at the Fox & Hound.

We first held this get-together before Boston 2013, the year of the finish-line bombing. As horrific as that cowardly act was, that tragedy helped forge some friendships in our group that will hopefully last as long as the Newton Hills. If you can make it to the Fox & Hound on Sunday, April 12th, I think you will enjoy the evening.

According to the BAA website, 155 Kansans have registered for Boston and 200 Missourians. Probably half of those folks are within an hour drive of the Fox & Hound. If you know someone who is in the KC area (or even close), please forward them this email so that we can add them to our Boston Bound KC email list and make sure they are invited to our annual outing.

So here are the facts, Jack (and Diane):

Knew it. A Boring marathon column. Hall couldn’t stay off the grid for too long. Next is that played out “Baseball Is” column.

    810 scoops 610 once again…

    • Bob says:

Ya know, Kissel, while you have made an astute comment here and there during the course of your diatribe, is there any reason you have to be such a complete d*ckhead every time you open your mouth? Such a sad person you must be.

      • Old Man Kissel says:

Just giving Hall a taste of what he’s been giving out for years.

Hall is a hack, always was and always will be.

        810 scoops 610 once again.

  2. Kansas Marines says:

Glad to see you back, Greg.

  3. Zac Mathews says:

    Figured you died

  4. MightyMo says:

If the comeback was going to be a running column (which I fully support), why not delay and deliver prose?

  5. Gassedup says:

Greg. Go ahead and give us some dirt on Old Man Kissel. The real story of between the lines. Take the gloves off. It’ll be fun. Miss getting go info here.

    • Old Man Kissel says:

      What dirt???

Oh I forgot…people still think I’m KK or an 810 employee.

If that’s what you think, fine. But that would make you a possibly deluded individual.

“I emailed Jason the day after looking into Hall’s piece and told him I was moving away from the story because the claims lacked credibility and I wasn’t about to light him up based on the claims of a possibly deluded individual.”

      810 SCOOPS 610 ONCE AGAIN…

      • Sports Radio is Dead in KC says:

        Who cares about dirt?

Who cares who “Old Man Kissel” is or isn’t?

The fact remains from all the posts that “Old Man Kissel” has made that he has a vendetta against Mr Hall. As a casual visitor to this site, “Old Man Kissel” is very protective of his favorite sports radio station, 810. It constantly “scoops” 610. In what, he never tells us, but he constantly reminds us that “810 SCOOPS 610 ONCE AGAIN…”. What does that mean? Is it some tag line or worn out promotion that 810 ran years ago? I can’t tell.

I came to this site, because honestly, 810 became a blowhard station that King Kevin ran and the casual fan who had differing opinions from the hosts could not be heard. I liked how Greg posted those comments here to inform others what they were saying on the radio.

As for you, “Old Man Kissel”, and your vendetta against Greg, I never see in any of your posts where Greg misquoted a radio personality. It is always personal with you. I’m sorry that Greg has personally offended you by posting quotes of local radio and TV personalities.

        • Bob says:

810 has become totally unlistenable, and I am in their supposed demographic center (older listeners vs 610 trying to appeal to younger listeners). While the various 810 hosts often do well in interviews, listening to them preen and prattle when they are on their own (not to mention being more ad shills than original content) has driven me away forever.

Ego is a terrible thing to give in to, and if there’s ANYTHING 810 excels at it is ego.

Do you have a comment?
