OTC: Adam Teicher Leaving KCStar For Chiefs Beat At ESPN.com

image“Ok. Word is out. I can confirm. I will be moving to ESPN next week to cover #Chiefs. Excited for the opportunity. Many thanks to the Kansas City Star. Great people, great times, great memories, great journalism. My last assignment for Kansas City Star will be to cover tomorrow night’s game in Pittsburgh.”
Adam Teicher, @adamteicher, confirming Friday afternoon that he will be leaving The Kansas City Star after accepting a position with ESPN.com to cover the Chiefs, Twitter
GH: Teicher resembled a balding Leprechaun when I first met him in 1996 and not much has changed – except his balding has culminated into full-blown Costanza . We were never tight but as coworkers at The Star went at that time, Adam and I got along. I think his first child had just been born when some of The Star’s sports desk got together at Dinn Mann’s home for a BBQ. Adam was checking that same daughter into college today when the news of his move to ESPN broke.

I need some help putting together a fun OTC that is a trip down memory lane for those in the media who have a funny story or two to share about Teicher. Adam is a feisty little cuss and I know there are some good tales out there that would elicit a hearty chuckle. I need to hear from Covitz, Rand, Tucker, Mann, JoPo, Whitlock, Mellinger, Babb, Porter, Dawson, Stewart, SSJ, Hendricks, Maas, Petro, KK, etc. I know there are some gold in those nuggets. Email me yours and I’ll put them together for a post next week.

  1. Gavin says:

I have every confidence you will get a treasure trove of fantastic anecdotes from Kietzman, Whitlock and Posnanski. There is little doubt in my mind that those guys will want to do everything possible to help you craft the best tribute possible to Teicher.

  2. Orphan of the Road says:

With the NYT reporting the NFL pressured ESPN to drop out of their project with FRONTLINE on football and head injuries it is going to be pretty hard to take anything coming out of them as true or serious.

Of course Adam’s relationship with the Chiefs have prepared him to be another lap-dog for the NFL.

  3. Java Man says:

Does this mean that Bob Gretz is finally returning to the Star?

  4. E.Jack Hewlett says:

Maybe Ol Man Kissell will post a Teicher anecdote here on KK’s behalf.

  5. Old Man Kissel says:

I remember when Adam Teicher was pwned on 810 radio by Bronco Rob. No real loss. Fishwraps are dead, and Thats a good thing.

    810 scoops 610 once again.

  6. Phaedrus says:

Whitlock is probably too busy to write in. Greg, you’ll have to write his anecdote for him. How’s $50 sound (cash not check)? :)
