OTC: George Brett Drops F-Bombs At KCI / Autograph Stalker Runs To YouTube For Blame Fame

“This is the last time. If I ever see you fucking again I’ll fucking shoot your fucking ass. You understand? It’s the last fucking time. Ever.”
George Brett, while signing an autograph for Brandon Farrens after Brett arrived at KCI Airport on Thursday, YouTube.com
GH: Babe Ruth never had to deal with cell phone cameras and YouTube. In a matter of hours, Farrens’ poorly shot and unedited video of Brett verbally assaulting him at KCI made the professional autograph hound a popular interview for local and national media. Viral is a word too often used today but it fits here with this story. Farrens used his own rudeness and Brett’s fame and anger to make him famous for the day. Isn’t he special? Read on.

“Farrens said he has asked for Brett’s signature about 35 times and gotten it about 15 times.”
Chris Oberholtz, reporter, KCTV5.com

“You’re an asshole!”
Brandon Farrens, autograph stalker, yelling at Brett after he successfully dropped four “fuckings” on him in the space of 26 words, YouTube
GH: Does Brett have a reputation for being a prick in public at times? Sure. I loved his tirade on the golf course a few years back when he ripped Jack Harry and anybody else who was criticizing Trey Hillman and his unicycle Royals.  But who is the real asshole in this video? Brett or the grown “man” who has asked Brett for his autograph on 35 different occasions?

“Farrens’ Facebook page is filled with pictures of him with celebrities including athletes like Dexter McCluster and Andrew Wiggins to musicians like Snoop Lion, the artist formally known as Snoop Dogg and Merle Haggard. When Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid first arrived at Arrowhead Stadium on Jan. 4, Farrens was there to greet him and get Reid’s autograph on two footballs.”
Chris Oberholtz, reporter, KCTV5.com
GH: I really don’t care what your personal fetish is as long as its execution doesn’t impede on the privacy of others. If Farrens wants to hump old issues of Sports Illustrated in his bathroom, be my guest. Well, not my guest, but you understand.

“At the airport, he came up to me walking through the terminal. He asked me, ‘Would you sign this for me?’ I said, ‘No. I’m done. I told you before, I’m done.’ After he repeatedly came up, my temper was getting a little off and finally I did sign. And I told him, ‘No more, I’m done. I never want to see you again. That’s it.'”
George Brett, in an interview with Dick Kaegel, MLB.com
GH: Dana and Parks interviewed Farrens on their KMBZ afternoon-drive show and asked him what he would have done if Brett would have simply said, “No.” Farrens told them he would have respected Brett’s answer and left. We obviously have two different stories here. And I don’t care at all that Brett told this idiot he would shoot him. We have too many assholes in this world as it is.

“No.”
Brandon Farrens, when asked by KMBZ’s Scott Parks if he will ever ask Brett for an autograph, 980 AM
GH: Maybe more celebs should start dropping f-bombs and threatening to shoot autograph stalkers. It appears to be pretty effective.

“Bad choice of words. After declining his requests five or six times walking through the terminal, waiting for my bags, I’d had enough. I didn’t know how else to get him off my back. He got his autograph, he was unharmed.”
George Brett, MLB.com
GH: We are not George Brett and probably very few of us will ever know what it’s like to be hounded in public. My problem with Farrens is that he didn’t keep this between him and Brett. He went to YouTube with his video and wanted his 15-minutes of blame. What a weasel.

“I apologize for using foul language in a public place to a guy that’s been stalking me for a long time.”
George Brett, MLB.com
GH: Who was surprised that Brett (or any MLB player outside Mike Sweeney) drops f-bombs in his personal life? Here is what is not covered in most of the reporting on this story – Brett signed the autograph for the guy! Yeah, what an asshole.

“Brett had flown into Kansas City for a gala at Kauffman Stadium Wednesday night. The Native Sons and Daughters of Greater Kansas City honored Brett as the ‘Outstanding Kansas Citian of The Year 2013’ at their Annual Gala Awards Dinner to be held on Nov. 6 in the Diamond Room at Kauffman Stadium.”
Chris Oberholtz, reporter, KCTV5.com
GH: This is my favorite part of the story. Brett is doing his damnest to remove that sweet, country halo over the heads of Kansas Citians. Think we are ashamed of Brett’s antics? Hell no! We celebrate ‘em! We can be just as bad ass as any big city back East.

“Here is a list of people where it is okay to ask for an autograph; 1) Children. That’s it.”
Danny Parkins, 610 AM
GH: Perfect.

“Hopefully, I’ve learned a very valuable lesson. You can wake up in the morning and be in a good mood or you can wake in the morning and be in a bad mood. This has made me want to wake up in the morning and be in a good mood every day.”
George Brett, MLB.com
GH: Hopefully Farrens learned a valuable lesson. The TSA at KCI are armed.

“I see the ol’ alma mater is luring students to a hoops game with bacon, which is the same way we get our dog to come in when it’s raining. I would poke fun, but … Free bacon.”
Austin Meek, @austinmeekRG, Twitter

“Unfortunately for Oregon this game and the way it’s developed feeds the stereotype that the Ducks can’t play with physical teams.”
Kirk Herbstreit, @KirkHerbstreit, after Oregon was exposed by Stanford and down 26-0 in the fourth quarter, Twitter
GH: Did Herby watch the same game as I? Stereotype? It almost sounds like it was an unfortunate mistake that Stanford pounded the Ducks like they were baby seals.

“I’ve got a big problem with NU and fake blood-spattered Wounded Warriors fb outfits. Forget the charity part. Is everything 4 sale in NCAA? Yes, that’s right, the Army, Marines, Air Force, Navy spend hundreds of millions on advertising–looks like somebody bought Northwestern too.”
Rick Telander, @ricktelander, on his alma mater’s special military-themed uniforms this weekend, Twitter
GH: I don’t have a problem if Northwestern is getting paid to wear blood-splattered uniforms. Anything that will allow schools to take the burden of financing their sports teams from the fans is a positive in my book.

“(Nick Saban) would be – and I mean this in all seriousness – he would be at risk of being assassinated by a crazed (Alabama) fan. Saban is not leaving.”
Will Harris, CFB insider for ESPN, in an interview with Soren Petro, when asked about Saban possibly taking the Texas job, 810 AM
GH: Ain’t no football like football in the state of Alabama. They kill trees, don’t they?

“Texas is supposed to hire (TCU’s) Gary Patterson. I suppose they will.”
Will Harris, 810 AM
GH: What happens if Texas beats Baylor and wins the Big 12? All of Austin will rejoice and recoil at the same time.

“Roll Tide!”
Will Harris, as he signed off from his interview with Petro, 810 AM
GH: Your sports “journalist” circa 2013.

  1. Guy Who Says What Others Think says:

Brandon Farrens is a jersey chasing loser. Enough said.

    • Kyle says:

Yeah I think Brandon defines the word “bitch”. Nice work George!

    • JP says:

Good for George, for an adult to pester an athlete for an autograph 35 TIMES!!!! He should be thankful and quit stalking the guys. This Farrens guy has issues, and I have no problem with George letting him have it with the F bombs. Hopefully Farrens 15 minutes has run out.

      • Mike says:

Did anyone get a screengrab of Farrens when he appeared on ch. 5? I want to get a good look at him, so I can accost him when he’s pestering folks for signatures. That big dummy just outed himself in public.

        • Twy's Gibman says:

the attitude I got from watching the video was the typical, “you’re famous, sign this now,” vibe from memorabilia nerds. Saw a Nebraska fan hounding Will Shields that way once. Sad.

        • Scott says:

If you google the asshat you should see a link to his facebook page. Or you can click below. He’s definitely looks the part.

    • Scott says:

My only disappointment in the whole thing is Brett doing the proper PR thing and apologizing. I’d rather he stick to his guns because clearly that Farrens guy is a complete jackass and deserves to get smacked down repeatedly. Good Job #5!

  2. Gavin says:

A grown man may ask for a handshake and only when the request does not violate any privacy. Anything more is out of bounds.

  3. JP says:

“(Nick Saban) would be – and I mean this in all seriousness – he would be at risk of being assassinated by a crazed (Alabama) fan. Saban is not leaving.”

So Todd Christiansen just went away, and this is Petro’s idea of a National College Football analyst. BTW, Harvey Opdyke (the guy who poisoned the trees at Auburn) isn’t the only crazy M F’er in that state. These people make Raider fans look rational by comparison. If those fans are whom Saban has to answer to, he will make a beeline for Texas or the pros a lot sooner than any of us can imagine.

    • BS says:

todd christiansen was a favorite of mine too.

    • Twy's Gibman says:

      good point. ESSSS EEEEE SSSSEEEEE!

      • Tim says:

Wait, so Todd is not on Pisstro’s show anymore? After all those times Pisstro told Todd he was “the best in the business” after nearly every show? But then again, Pisstro tells just about all his national guests that.

    • Truman says:

Could be that Todd was too busy DYING to fulfill your mid-day entertainment expectations…

      http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/2013/11/13/todd-chistensen-obit-raiders/3516843/

    • JP says:

Sad news regarding Todd Christensen. He had liver disease and died at age of 57. Way too young, RIP Todd.

  4. Buster McFillibuster says:

Ferris is a complete loser. What kind of adult hounds another adult for an autograph. I take pleasure in seeing a celebrity in public and acting like they aren’t even there. I want them to know that despite their ability to play a professional sport, deliver the news, or act on TV, they are just a human being who takes a shit like the rest of us.

The Northwestern uniforms are said to be of a distressed, battle worn flag, not blood. I can where that looks like blood though. Besides, what better way to honor those who did shed blood for us than honor their sacrifice. We as Americans need that smack in the face. Sometimes you need to see a car wrapped around a tree to see that drunk driving is not a good idea.

  5. Tigerpiper says:

“After declining his requests five or six times walking through the terminal, waiting for my bags, I’d had enough.”
This really shocks me. Who checks bags?

  6. JFP says:

“Brett should have just punched him.” -Jeff Ireland

    • estoniakat says:

Some celebrities do get physical with their harassers. And become even cooler in my book. http://youtu.be/wptn5RE2I-k

  7. Java Man says:

Does anyone really think Farrens is done stalking Brett?
I would be worried the next time he shows up with a copy of The Catcher in the Rye.

  8. BlackJack says:

I applaud Brett of his dressing down of this a-hole, and it probably deservered even more f-bombs and bodily threats of harm. These jerkoffs are nothing more than glorified paparazzi, and I have never understood the appeal of a grown man seeking the autograph of another grown man. He should have just signed it “Fuck you, asshole” Period. Wonder how much $$ on eBay he’d make selling that one?

  9. Cletus Frade says:

I have never understood why anyone wants an autograph, anyway. A quick photo with a celebrity is a much better keepsake than an autograph on some scrap of paper. What kind of weirdos pay money for an autograph they didn’t even get themselves? Johnny Football signed thousands of little plastic helmets and some clowns who live under rocks somewhere snapped them up, evidently. People are crazy.

    • Phaedrus says:

You know, if all those weirdos didn’t exist, then this guy wouldn’t have been pestering George. The losers that buy the autographs are really the ones to blame for this. If this guy couldn’t have sold the previous 20 autographs he got from George, I really doubt he would have asked him for a 21st autograph.

    • Maff says:

You are right, autographs are for losers. I have met George 3-4 times and he is always cordial and friendly. I only collected 1 autograph in my life and that was Otis Taylor at the Jones Store in PV around 1970. I mainly remember how big his hands were when I shook hands. That was much more memorable to me than a stupid autograph. Autograph seekers are generally losers.

  10. Phaedrus says:

Anyone know if KK brought this up on his show today? George really bullied this guy…just like Hal Mcrae bullied the reporters back when he had his office meltdown.

  11. CM70 says:

“Anything that will allow schools to take the burden of financing their sports teams from the fans is a positive in my book.”

Greg, you must be INCREDIBLY naive. What really happens is the schools take this “splattered blood money” and then they increase the price of tickets ON TOP OF IT.

None NONE NONE of these schools are going to lower ticket costs or make things easier on the fans just because Nike, Adidas or Under Armor create some kind of charity/awareness scam.

  12. P says:

I loved getting autographs from athletes…..when I was fucking 8.

  13. Joe Blow says:

I saw Stacey Delikat a couple of tables away at a sushi restaurant a few months ago. That’s my brush with fame..

  14. Splitlog Quindaro says:

Last season during the KU/ West Va Bball game, the Jayhawks were comfortably ahead so my wife and I went down early to the ropes to watch the team come off the court. We just wanted to root on the team and get a glimpse. Then there are these dudes with glossy photos and hard back pieces of cardboard as a signing surface showed up… They were trying to get Charlie Weis, who walks through there, Self, Withey etc…. none of them signed.. IF KU shut down the TShirt guy, why not these guys?

  15. Rick Reston says:

Only Kansas City jock sniffers would think that Brett did the classy thing by threatening to kill an autograph seeker. Brett could shoot three nuns and most of you assholes would defend him. He was a fine athlete, but as a person he has always been a foul-mouthed pig. Remember the drunken golf fiasco? How about his cute story of shitting himself?

    • BlackJack says:

At least Brett is who is he is; nobody, including himself thinks the guy is a saint. Maybe my standards are lower than yours, but he exercised more self-control than I would have.
Brett is usually not thee sympathetic character, but he is in this case, because the other guy is such an annoying, sychophant ass-clown.
